Decomposed granite is perfect for the patio surface. It compacts for a stable surface but lets water trickle through instead of pooling on top. Still, you'll want to slope the decomposed granite away from the house 1/8" to 1/4" per foot to insure that water doesn't come back into the house.

Doubtful wether you will get an exact match, if you invest in a electric mortar raking tool it wont take long to cut it all out, then you can repoint in a lime mortar mix, colour matched from Tradlime Co.

Jun 14, 2019· Hi David, I'm neither landscaper nor builder and my knowledge is limited to my own specialsim but do mix a lot of mortar for sculpting and laying and insetting large sections of slate etc on flat surfaces and they have to be bullet proof. I use sharp sand or stone dust stiff mix. I've found washing up liquid and commercail extenders for building weaken the mix.

The pavers are cut so you don't have to fill the joints with sand unlike bluestone. Even if there are some small gaps in the patio, the stone won't need to be grouted. If they are laid with a space to accommodate grout(I`ve never done this with travertine) then something that is dry like sand or stone dust can be used.
Gator Stone Bond does work on sands, but sands are not considered as strong "structurally speaking" as a crushed stone mix with larger size stones like a 3/8 minus would have. Gator Stone Bond may slightly darken the crushed stone mix. Gator Stone Bond is not concrete, expect that some surface aggregates will become loose over time.
